Avery Park Market Square
The Avery Park Market Square project is the primary building in the commercial area of a New Urbanism neighborhood. It consists of retail based lower level and a residential upper level. The two uses are connected in the center by a resident elevator in a central breezeway connecting parking areas and street frontage. The Commercial spaces are anchored by a large restaurant space with outdoor seating and street level dining. The Residential units are industrial-look lofts. The exterior of the building has elements that are derived from a sketch study of local buildings and combined to make the lengthy horizontal elevation appear as multiple buildings along a storefront lined sidewalk. Specific attention was paid to how the building frames the entry to the neighborhood as well as how it meets the streets and adjacent highway.
